On June 6, 2004 we held our first service with approximately 80 in attendance. We met in a two car garage owned by Marshall and Kathy Stephens. After praying and seeking the Lord, Bro. Allen Harper was elected as Pastor. Deacons, trustees, treasurer, clerk, Sunday school superintendent, and teachers were also elected. We were incorporated as United Faith Independent Church in the Fall of 2004.
The Lord truly poured out his blessings and our congregation began to grow. September of 2004 we moved to 129 Park Ave. in Glasgow. We were at this location for a couple of years, when we realized that it was time to look for a permanent location. Spring of 2006 Bro. Allen and deacons began looking for property. Different options came our way, but nothing felt right until our current site was located. We all started praying over this location and felt this was where God wanted us.
The property was not listed for sale, so Bro. Allen and deacons contacted the owner of the property. The owner gave them a verbal agreement sell us 10 1/2 acres. A few weeks later the owner passed away, therefore we didn't know if we could still purchase the land. We continued to pray for God's will to be done. Within a few days Bro. Allen came in contact with the owner's daughter, she told Bro. Allen that she knew about her dad's agreement to sell the property, and she wanted his wishes to be carried out. This was truly confirmation that we were to be in this area.
We contacted the banks for the money, but since our second year to be incorporated would not be until November they could not loan us the money. Bro. Allen and deacons met with the owner's daughter and explained the situation. She told them that she also needed a few more months to settle her dad's estate. With both parties needing more time, it was agreed upon that we could take possession of the land with full rights to the land. So with a small down payment and agreement to pay the balance in November, the property became the future home of United Faith Independent Church. For the next few months we continued to pray and seek the Lord. Within six months God had blessed us with the money we needed to pay for our property.
Bro. Allen and deacons started praying and working on the plans for our new church. Everything just seemed to fall right into place. Construction was started in the Spring of 2008 and we held our first service in our new church December 7, 2008. God has blessed us so much in the short time that we have been together. We have seen many wonderful things happen and expecting much more. We realize that we were brought to this area for a great work to be done. Our goal is to see many souls saved and lives renewed.
